Through its own R&D activities, Microgen has developed
an extensive range of diagnostic kits for the identification
of bacteria isolated from a broad range of samples routinely
submitted to clinical, food, environmental and veterinary
laboratories. These products are based on two technology platforms,
biochemical identification systems (Microgen TM
ID) and latex agglutination (Microgen TM
Latex).
MicrogenTM
BIOCHEMICAL ID
The MicrogenTM
range of biochemical identification systems currently includes
systems for the following:
•Gram
Negative Bacilli
– Oxidase positive and
negative. Download Product Information
•Listeria spp. – developed specially for the food industry and conforming
to the requirements of all international food standards, this
identification contains a unique micro-haemolysin test providing
a fully self-contained identification system.

The
MicrogenTM
BIOCHEMICAL ID systems
are supported by the most comprehensive, powerful and
easy-to-use, computerized identification system available.
The combination of the appropriate MicrogenTM
Biochemical ID System and the computerized identification
system provides laboratories with a total package to
meet their organism identification needs.
MicrogenTM Biochemical ID System Software users are also provided with a FREE OFFER of database updates. All users of MicrogenTM Biochemical ID products and software should register as software users (see top of page) in order to be provided with their Software Update Password. Download

PRE-PREPARED CHROMOGENIC MEDIA – AES
LABORATOIRE, ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE UK
Microgen Bioproducts
is the exclusive UK Distributor for the range of pre
prepared agar plate media developed and manufactured
by AES Laboratoire, France.
The first of these products to be
released into the UK is ALOA medium for the selective
isolation of Listeria
spp. and the presumptive
identification of L. monocytogenes.
The incorporation of the chromogenic
substrate X-glucoside for the detection of beta-glucosidase
demonstrates the presence of Listeria spp., whilst the
detection of a specific phospholipase C enzyme produced
by pathogenic Listeria
spp. including
L. monocytogenes is also achieved. Listeria
spp.
grow on this medium producing blue - green colonies,
with the pathogenic species L.
monocytogenes and L.
ivanovii, producing similar coloured colonies
surrounded by a characteristic opaque halo after 24
hours incubation at 37°C. Non
Listeria spp.
produce white colonies. |
 |
BENEFITS INCLUDE:
•Rapid - report negative results after
48 hours and positive results with confirmed indentifications
after 72 hours.· AFNOR Approved (AES 10/3 09/00)
•Economical - save both material and labour costs
•Sensitive - low numbers of L.monocytogenes
easily detected in mixed populations
•Specific - selective medium inhibits non Listeria organisms.

INNOGENETICS®
INNO-LiPA® SYSTEMS
INNO-LiPA® Systems are a range of line probe assays for the detection and identification of Mycobacterial species

MYCOBACTERIA IDENTIFICATION
The INNO-LiPA Mycobacteria v2 for the detection and identification of 16 Mycobacteria spp . from liquid or solid culture, is now available from Microgen Bioproducts Ltd. The assay is based on the reverse hybridisation principle where biotinylated DNA material is hybridised with specific oligonucleotide probes immobilised as parallel lines on membrane based strips. After hybridisation, streptavidin labelled with alkaline phosphatase is added and binds to any biotinylated hybrid present. Incubation with the chromogen BCIP/NBT results in a purple/brown precipitate. Amplification of the 16S-23S ribosomal RNA spacer region should be carried out using the primers provided. Amplified biotinylated product is subsequently hybridised using one typing strip onto which 22 DNA probe lines and 2 control lines are fixed. The INNO-LiPA assay can be automated using the AUTO-LiPA which runs the assay from sample incubation to completion.
The Mycobacteria v2 line probe assay will identify the following species of Mycobacteria: M.kansasii (I-V probes), M.xenopi, M.gordonae, M.genavense, M.simiae, M.marinarum+ulcerans, M. celatum, MAIS complex, M.avium, M.intracellulare I&II probes, M.scrofulaceum, M.malmoense, M.haemophilum, M.chelonae (I-IV probes), M.fortuitum complex and M.smegmatis.
NOW CE MARKED |
INNO-LiPA Rif TB – line probe assay for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and its resistance to rifampicin. Rifampicin is one of the key drugs for treatment of tuberculosis and resistance to it may be considered as a marker for multi drug resistance. Rifampicin resistance is due to mutation in a short region of the ß-subunit of the RNA polymerase. The INNO-LiPA Rif. TB is a fast and convenient method of detecting mutations in the rpoB gene of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains.
INNO-LIA Syphilis Score – line immunoassay for the confirmation of antibodies against Treponema pallidum in human serum and plasma. Three recombinant proteins (TpN47, TpN17 and TpN15) and one synthetic peptide (TmpA) are coated as discrete lines on a nylon strip with plastic backing.
