MICROGENTM Legionella for the confirmation of cultured organisms. L. pneumophila, the cause of Legionnaires Disease is a latex agglutination test which permits the rapid and simple confirmation of the identity and serotype of L. pneumophila isolated from both clinical and environmental samples.

The MICROGENTM Legionella 50-test kit uses the tried and trusted latex agglutination technology and has now been improved by the inclusion into the test reagent of a Monoclonal Antibody specific for serogroup 1. This significantly improves the specificity and readability of positive test results. The test may be performed directly from all types of selective agar plate media with no further steps required. This test differentiates between serogroup 1 and serogroups 2-15. The inclusion of serogroup 15 (Lancing strain) ensures comprehensive coverage of Legionella spp.
